Post-Disaster Housing Needs

The American Planning Association's Hazards Planning Research Center launched work in October 2010 on a new three-year cooperative agreement with FEMA to completely overhaul and rewrite its classic 1998 Planning Advisory Service Report, "Planning for Post-Disaster Recovery and Reconstruction." I am an urban planner, co-editor of APA's Zoning Practice, and a specialist in planning issues related to natural hazards and disasters. I manage research and training projects in these areas, frequently funded by federal agencies like FEMA, USGS, Forest Service, and others.
