At the American Planning Association national conference earlier this month, I was part of a panel that discussed considering the needs of both older adults and families with children in community design.  The presentations underscore the importance of planning both the physical housing stock and models of service delivery in such a way that recognizes the growing older adult population.  The presentations are available at http://www.economicdevelopmentandchildcare.org/technical_assistance....  Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to discuss.

The session looks like it was a good one - it's important to explore the connections between the needs of older adults and younger families and also to prepare for the demographic change of the next few decades as the population gets older.
