California's SB 375 requires that all MPOs develop a Sustainable Community Strategy with each of their Regional Transportation Plans (RTP). The goals is to better tie transporation and land use in order to reduce green house gas emissions from cars and light trucks. The San Diego Assn of Governments (SANDAG) is the first MPO that must do this.
We have organized the social equity and transportation NGOs, business groups, academics and public health to work together to make sure that land use plans address the need to assure that homes should affordable for the jobs that are in the neighborhood/sub-region and that social equity and environmental justice issues are addressed for all areas.
I would appreciate hearing from other housers that are participating in a similar exercise.
