I would be interested to know how others respond to this recent article from the New York Times about the relationships between homeowners' associations and foreclosures.  Have others observed similar things happening elsewhere or are the cases presented in the article more extreme than the author leads us to believe?

I have 2 cases right now of foreclosures due to nonpayment of condo fees. The problem in Connecticut is that those foreclosures do NOT go through the ordinary mediation process we have for other foreclosures.
Is that true of all foreclosures through owners' associations in CT or just for condo owners' associations?

Some of the homeowners are afraid to fight against foreclosure. I just don't get the point of being afraid to fight for their properties.
